Atlanta - Turner Field: 3M Photograph of Hank Aaron's 715th Ball The 3M Photograph of Hank Aaron's 715th Ball, located on the back of BravesVision in The Plaza at Turner Field, was taken by photographer Arrington Hendley. The concept for the monumental 100-foot graphic was was developed by David Ashton, a Baltimore-based artist and designer and it was produced by the Arrington Group, an Atlanta commercial photography studio. Henry "Hank" Aaron hit his 715th career home run. which barely cleared the left field wall, off the Los Andeles Dodgers' Al Downing, on April 8, 1974, in front of a homefield crowd of 53,775 people. Aaron had entered the 1974 season just one home run behind Babe Ruth's career record of 714 home runs, but quickly caught up on April 4th at Riverfront Stadium in Cincinnati. Turner Field originally opened as the 85,000-seat Centennial Olympic Stadium in 1996 to serve as the centerpiece of the 1996 Summer Olympics, after which it was converted into a 49,000-seat baseball park. Since 1997 it has served as the home of the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball.
